The pulse of ones work place.
by Adam Evenden on Feb.12, 2013, under Unpatched Tuesdays
A while back in 2012 we had a guest drop in to the space on an open to the public night.
Let me remind all of our readers that every Tuesday evening approx at 6pm, the space
is open to the public to drop by, explore, create, collaborate, and geek out.
Our guest did just that. Utilizing one of our work spaces and a soldering station,
he got down to work and demonstrated a short time later his project.
Hacklab the choose your own adventure?
by Adam Evenden on Feb.08, 2013, under Unpatched Tuesdays
Todays post was originally suppose to be a comic strip that ended upon a past internet Meme which has recently been gracing the lab, specifically the LED sign. The Meme in question is the video of Rick Astley – Never Gonna Give You Up. The LED sign just cant handle the current video this internet favourite, but I have high hopes for the video/animation currently in use with some more tweaking and editing it could be fully working in no time. So instead of my intended comic I am present everyone with a mashup between a make your own caption, and what I am calling Hacklab the movie.

Letting the magic blue smoke out.
by Adam Evenden on Sep.21, 2012, under Unpatched Tuesdays
For those who do not know what letting the magic blue smoke out reference’s, it simply means when something electronic is over powered, melted, or broken in such a way it may spark and produces smoke is a sign of death of a component or a device.
Often the smoke is blue when IC’s burn, other components may produce other colours based on the metals and materials they are composed of. Wikipedia of course has an article on this topic with more information, and I am sure could be expanded upon.
To see the magic smoke get released and what the Microscope has found click on the more link below.

Tim Pritlove Presents Liquid Feedback
by Dan Fraser on Jul.21, 2010, under Events, Unpatched Tuesdays
Tim Pritlove, founder of the Blinkenlights Project, long term Chaos Computer Club member and Chaos Communication Congress organizer, stopped by Toronto for a visit this week. He gave a presentation at Hacklab Toronto about the Liquid Feedback Project, which is a software package and philosophy being used by the Pirate Party in Germany to facilitate decision making.
Tim presented to a full house of interested Hacklabbers, fielded lots of questions, and sparked some interesting discussion on the nature of democracy. Thanks, Tim!
